We are excited to celebrate the Advent season with baptisms on Sunday, December 21st. Baptism is a presence-filled Sacrament and means of grace that has been given to us by Jesus. It is an embodied way of denouncing your old way of life and being raised to a new life in Christ and his family. In some ways, it marks the conscious beginning of your discipleship to Jesus.
On Sunday, December 14th, right after our gathering, we will host a catechism class for those preparing to be baptized.

This year, instead of hosting our own Trunk or Treat, we are going to partner with Glenwood Together and help serve during their event on Saturday, October 25 from 4 until 5:30pm at 1417 Glenwood Ave. There are many ways to serve - whether you're able to donate some bags of candy, set up a trunk with some folks from your house church, or just be an extra set of hands during the event - they are expecting a lot of kids, and need our help to show them some love!
It is time for our quarterly night of prayer and worship, where we come together as a community to seek the presence of the Lord. Plan to join us on Wednesday, October 22 from 6:30 until 8:00 pm. Childcare is provided and all house churches will be gathering together on this night to worship as one body.
We are offering an Evangelism Course to help believers grow in both confidence and skill when sharing their faith and witnessing in daily life. Together, we will focus on cultivating the insistence, craft, and theology of evangelism—equipping you to live out the Great Commission with both clarity and compassion. This is a 2 week course on Sundays, October 12 and 19, from 12:45 until 3:15pm - bring your own lunch. See Lydia Davis or Devin Lattimore with questions.

On Monday, September 29 at 6:30 pm, we are hosting an educational event with The Yellow Door House, one of our mission partners. Nikki Taylor will be with us to share about what they do in the Glenwood neighborhood and how we can partner with them. Plan to come and join us for this time of learning together.
September is a special month for us — a month of vision casting. We will be having a Family Meeting on Sunday, September 28th right after the gathering to pause and remember some values of our community. We have a unique opportunity to align our hearts with what we believe about community, giving, caring for each other and others through the much-needed purchase of a new roof for our building. We are inviting you all to sow into legacy and relationships through this opportunity!

This is a space to both inform you of who we are and what we believe, as well as to equip you as a disciple of Jesus. At the end, you will be given the chance to covenantally join Emmaus. Our 2025 Prayer Retreat is coming up this Fall and is, once again, taking place at the beautiful Victory Mountain Camp in Sophia, NC from September 12-13. It will begin with a meal on Friday at 5:30 PM and end on Saturday at 4 PM. However, if you would like to stay through Saturday night and leave Sunday morning, that is also available. This is mainly a space to spend time in solitude with the Lord, but there will also be a few group gatherings to help equip your prayer time. The cost for lodging and meals is $25.
Join us on Tuesday, September 9 at 6:30pm as our house churches kick off for the year. This is a great chance to get to know our leaders and get plugged into a group if you haven't already! Plus we will have The Rockin' Moroccan food truck and yard games for everyone to enjoy - see you there!

Our next youth hangout will be an Ice Cream & Game Night on Sunday, August 17 from 6:30-8pm in the community room. We will play some games, have an ice cream buffet, and do a devotional together!

Groups of eight(ish) people are formed at random to have a meal together on the second Friday of every month. You can host a dinner at your house or just attend - it is potluck style so make your best dish and get to know some new people!

Twice a year, we take a Sabbath Sunday to stop and rest. We desire to be a community that is intentional about gathering but also intentional about resting, especially giving our team of volunteers the chance to take a break. Rather than gathering together in person on July 6, we will take time as a community to practice our rhythm of rest and spend time delighting in the Lord.
Calling all middle and high school students! Emmaus Youth will have our first hangout of the Summer on Sunday, June 29, immediately following the gathering. We will have pizza at the church and then go bowling together - please bring $10 to cover costs.

Starting on Sunday, May 18, we will be hosting a 6 week Emotionally Healthy Relationships course based on the work of Pete & Geri Scazzero. In this course, you will learn 8 practical relationship skills to develop mature, loving relationships with others and deepen your discipleship. It will be on Sundays from 1:00 - 2:30pm (we will skip the week of Father's Day). The workbook will be required, but if you need financial assistance in purchasing please see Pastor Josh or Pastor Jhinika.
This Sunday we will be having a baby dedication. This is a chance to commit, as a community, to raise up these little ones in the way of Jesus. We hope you will join us as we seek to embody the DNA of Family.
On Saturday, May 17th, we will be having our 2nd annual Rolling Roads Park Day. This park is the center of the Rolling Roads neighborhood and we hope to take the day, not just to enjoy it, but to also beautify it and serve the greater neighborhood. We will have teams picking up trash in the park, laying mulch, and blessing neighbors by offering to mow before gathering back together for a hot dog lunch. We will meet at the church at 9:30am to pray over our time, go over details, and then walk down to the park together.
Renew is our quarterly night of prayer and worship, where we come together as a community to seek the presence of the Lord. Plan to join us on Monday, May 12 from 6:30 until 8:00 pm. Childcare is provided and house churches will not meet that week in hopes that we can all make space to join together on Monday night.
On Sunday, April 20th, we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ! Easter Sunday provides a special moment for us to come together as a community and praise God for the gift of new life. As part of our Easter celebration this year, we will also have the unique opportunity to rejoice with a number of new believers as they are baptized. Join us at 9am for our traditional Love Feast before our 10am service.
For the Love Feast, we are asking everyone to bring a sweet bread or some sort of breakfast item to share with our community. We can't wait to celebrate together!
