Let's journey together.

Why Emmaus?

Stories are what shape us.

The Emmaus Road story in Luke 24 is a down-to-earth narrative about a Jesus-centered reality. This story documents the human journey, the centrality of Jesus as King and Rabbi within the grand narrative of creation, the struggle of doubt, the beauty of the table, and the compelling nature of the presence of God.

“Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them.” -Luke 24:13-15 (and continued through v. 34)

The story you live in, is the story you live out.

Mission

Our aim is to practice the way of Jesus for the renewal of all things.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus wraps up his “kingdom manifesto” with these closing remarks, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock (Matthew 7:24).” As a community, we desire to be disciples of Jesus who are seeking to become more like him and partnering with him as his presence is bringing forth renewal and healing all throughout the world.

We commit to a Rhythm of Life together.

Beliefs

We are a Jesus-centered community. We submit to him, through the Holy Spirit, as Teacher, Savior, and Lord. As a community, we affirm the confession of the Apostles Creed (2nd Century AD) and Nicene Creed (4th Century AD) as guiding statements of orthodoxy (right teaching) within the historic Christian church.

We also subscribe to recent summaries of Christian doctrine as formulated in the Lausanne Covenant - a global representation of 150 nations from around the world.

Our standard practice for understanding Truth is rooted in Scripture, clarified by the Tradition of the church, confirmed in logic & reason, and then exercised in experience.

Emmaus Church is affiliated with the global Wesleyan Church

So what do we believe about Jesus and the story of God?
